Team Composition

Mechanical

The mechanical team’s purpose is to take our season-focused design and make it a reality. We take the CAD drawings of the robot design and build the mechanical aspects of the robot such as the frame, the drive train and the robot mechanisms that interact with the field. Our drive train changes from year to year but we commonly use pneumatic wheels and omni wheels.

Electrical

This team’s purpose is to connect all the components on the robot including batteries, motors, relays and switches to enable the robot to operate. Our team makes sure the wireless controls connect to drive and operator stations as well as correctly link into the match field network. Our team also handles pneumatic components when used to meet this season challenges.

Software

The software team designs and builds the ‘brains’ of our robot. Our team focuses on making the purpose-built parts of the robot “do what it’s supposed to” as well as ensuring the driver and operators can control the robot properly. We also program the autonomous modes used at the beginning of each match and integrate cameras and sensors to provide drive team on-field visuals. We code in java and python.
